Before treatment:
Klaudia was prematurely delivered during her mother’s 6th month of pregnancy. When she was born, the doctors found her vision was abnormal. She was diagnosed with retinopathy of prematurity. She received cold therapy at the age of 3 months, low level laser therapy at the age of 5 months and she also received eye surgery at the age of 10 months. At present, she is able to see black and big words at short distances. She is able to see big objects but she is unable to see what the objects are and how many there are. She is able to see large and bright colors such as yellow, blue, green, except red. Her spirit, sleep, diet, urination and defecation are normal.
Admission PE:
Body temperature: 36.0 degrees. Bp: 123/75mmHg. Hr: 84/min. Br: 21/min. Klaudia’s nutrition and physical development were good, the skin and mucosa were normal with no yellow stains or petechia. The thorax was symmetrical. The respiratory sounds in both lungs were clear, with no dry or moist rales. The heart sounds were strong, the cardiac rate was normal, with no obvious murmur in the valves. The abdomen was soft and flat, with no masses. The liver and spleen were normal.
Nervous System Examination:
Klaudia Agnieszka Kwiecinska was alert, she spoke clearly. Her memory, calculation ability, comprehension and orientation examinations were normal. Her right eye was greyish-white with turbidity, so the doctor was not able to examine it. The diameter of the right pupil was 2.0mm, it was not sensitive to light, she had eversion of the right eyelid and it was congestive. Both eyes had spontaneous nystagmus. Her vision field was smaller than normal. Her color discrimination was decreased. She could only see large bright colors and some patterns. She could see to the second line of the visual acuity test chart at a distance of 40cm, she could see to the eighth line of the visual acuity test chart at a distance of 2-3cm. She could see her fingers at a distance of 30cm. Ophthalmoscopy check: left fundus was light yellow, macula atrophy, the boundary was unclear, there was black osteoid sediment diffused in the equator. Right fundus was light yellow; blood transportation was bad, macula atrophy, the A/V: 1:4. There was black osteoid sediment diffused in the temporal. The forehead wrinkle pattern was symmetrical. The bilateral nasolabial sulcus was equal in depth. The swallowing function and hearing were normal. She was able to move her neck and four limbs well. The muscle power and muscle tension of all four limbs were normal. The tendon reflex and abdominal reflexes were normal. The sucking reflex, palm jaw reflex, bilateral Hoffmann sign, Rossolimo sign and Babinski sign were negative. The deep sensation, superficial sensation and coordinated movements were basically normal. The meningeal irritation sign was negative.
Treatment:
After admission, Klaudia Agnieszka Kwiecinska was diagnosed with retinopathy of prematurity. She received 3 neural stem cell injections and 3 mesenchymal stem cell injections to initiate the replacement and repairing of the retina and optic nerves, activate the stem cells in her body, nourish the neurons, improve her blood circulation and regulate her immune system. She also had physical rehabilitation.
Post-treatment:
After 15 days of treatment, Klaudia’s vision was improved, she could see her fingers at a distance of 40-50cms, she could see the outlines of objects better, and she could see her fingers when holding a pen. She could see colors better. Her visual field was enlarged, the upper visual field was 5.5cm, the lower visual field was 8.5cm, and the left visual field was 5.5cm.
