Gnana -Muscular dystrophy(Arab) Post on 22 February, 2010
Name: Gnana
Sex: Female
Country: Arab
Age: 31
Diagnosis: Muscular dystrophy-Facioscapulohumeral dystrophy
Admission Date: 2009-12-27
Days Admitted to the Hospital: 40
Pre-treatment:
Gnana was presented with hereditary myodystrophy. Her symptoms started in the right shoulder with mild atrophy without any obvious inducement. The disease progressed slowly until eventually the movement in her right upper limb became limited. She also had difficulty raising both upper limbs and was in pain whenever she made an attempt. Gnana was diagnosed with muscular dystrophy about 5 years ago, however at that time she did not receive any treatment for it. At present, there is atrophy in the right deltoid, supraspinatus and infraspinatus muscles. The movement of the right shoulder and upper right limb was limited. She was able to raise her upper right limb to a 90º angle while lying on her back and to a 70º angle while standing.
Gnana and her older brother both have muscular dystrophy. The parents took both Gnana and her brother to a few countries in Europe, including Germany, for treatment, but had no successful results. By chance, they discovered that stem cell therapy for muscular dystrophy can be very effective. The family contacted some medical centers specializing in stem cell treatment, and eventually decided to come to Wu Stem Cells Medical Center.
The muscle strength of the upper left limb was level 5; the muscle strength of the upper right limb was level 4+. Gnana felt some pain when she moved her right shoulder and the movement was limited. Even though she could raise her upper right limb to a 90 degree angle while lying down and to a 70 degree angle while standing, she would have to swing her arm and rely on inertia to raise it. The muscle strength of both lower limbs was about level 5. She was unable to squat down without support. The muscle tone of all four limbs was almost normal. The tendon reflexes of all four limbs were almost normal, the abdominal reflex was normal.
Treatment:
We initially gave Gnana a complete examination. Then we administered the stem cells activation treatment to repair the damage to the neurons and enhance the body's resistance. She received treatment to improve the blood circulation in order to increase the blood supply to the damaged nerves and to nourish the neurons. She was also given daily physical rehabilitation training and Chinese traditional medicine to promote the recovery of her motor functioning.
Post- treatment:
Gnana could feel an obvious increase in her muscle strength 2 weeks after the start of the treatment program, and the pain in her right shoulder had almost completely disappeared. The strength, flexibility and ability to exercise the upper right limb had increased. The upper right limb can now be raised to a 120 degree angle while she is lying down and a 90 degree angle while she is standing. She can also raise her upper right limb without having to swing it first. The right supraspinatus, infraspinatus and deltoid muscles are stronger than before. She has better balance and control with her lower limbs and can squat down further without assistance.
After the treatment, Gnana's father told us: "I try my best to help my children; I looked for the best possible treatment all over the world. When I found that stem cell treatment offered the best option for this disease, I was very relieved and optimistic. I compared a lot of medical centers and selected yours and I'm very glad that I did. We got good results from the treatment at your medical center. Gnana continues to take the oral medication as well as participate in her rehabilitation training and we look forward to seeing even more improvements. We want to thank the entire staff. Thank you for your superb treatment techniques, nursing skills, and kind attention. Happy New Year!"
