Ewa Konstantinowa-Parkinson disease (Bulgaria)
Name: Ewa Konstantinowa
Sex: Female
Country: Bulgaria
Age: 51
Diagnosis: Parkinson's Disease
Beginning Treatment: May 21, 2008
Before Treatment:
Ewa was presented with progressively slower movements, rigidity and tremors for the past 15 years. She was diagnosed with Parkinson's syndrome. Her movements were slow; there was rigidity in the right side of her body, drooling and tremors. She had pain in her back, and hand joints. She was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease at a local hospital. She had taken Sinemet; Admantadine and Selegiline to treat the Parkinson's symptoms. Four years later, her doctor changed the medications (Madopar; Pramipexole; Admantadine and Selegiline); she was taken off Selegiline gradually. Her symptoms fluctuated from that point on.
Upon admission to our hospital her symptoms included slow movement, rigidity (more severe on the right side of her body) and dyskinesia. When she walked by herself, she was unstable and had balance problems. She had a festinating gait. She suffered from severe tremors (more severe on her left side). She needed help to get into and out of bed. There was also memory loss.
Treatment:
Ewa received 4 neural stem cell injections through a lumbar puncture (2008-05-27; 2008-06-10; 2008-06-20; 2008-07-01)
After Treatment:
The spasms, rigidity and slow movements were alleviated; the dyskinesia (chorea movement) was noticeably reduced. Ewa's walking ability has greatly improved.
