The stem cells treatment made a new progress in retinopathy of prematurity
Sebastian Ezequiel Farias is from Argentina and was diagnosed with retinopathy of prematurity level V when he was 6 months old as a result of premature birth, lower than normal weight, a viral infection and neonatal jaundice. He almost lost all of his vision. He received different forms of treatment but his left eye was not able to see anything and he could only see fingers up to a distance of 10 cm with the right eye and he was not able to detect different colors. Fortunately, Sebastian received stem cells treatment on two separate occasions. The first time was when he was 6 years old, and the second time was when he was 8 years old. He also received physical rehabilitation training at another rehabilitation hospital. Sebastian’s condition is much better now, and he is studying at a regular school instead of a school for the blind.
