A 6-year-old girl with ROP V sees a 30% improvement in vision in just 2 Weeks! Clearer, broader, and farther vision!

Emma Thaisa Hoyos Saldana, a beautiful and intelligent 6-year-old girl from Peru, unfortunately suffers from ROP V, which has left her with significantly impaired vision since childhood. Her left eye has a naked-eye vision of 0.08 and a corrected vision of 0.2 at 3 meters; her right eye has no vision, cataracts, and no light reflex.

Watching their lovely daughter struggle to play normally with her little friends due to her weak eyesight fills Emma Thaisa Hoyos Saldana’s parents with sadness. Fortunately, they connected with Dr. Wu's team through friends and the internet. They learned that Dr. Wu has helped many children with ROP V regain normal vision, allowing them to attend regular schools, ride their bikes to and from school, and make more friends. They thought, "We can do this too!" With hope in their hearts, Emma Thaisa Hoyos Saldana’s parents brought her to Wu Medical Center to personally experience the miracle of stem cell treatment.

In just 2 weeks of hospitalization, Emma Thaisa Hoyos Saldana's visual function significantly improved: her vision became clearer, her visual field expanded, and the distance at which she could see objects increased. Her left eye’s naked-eye vision improved from 0.08 (before treatment) to 0.15, and her corrected vision increased from 0.2(before treatment) to 0.4, representing a 30% improvement. Meanwhile, her right eye, which previously had no response, now shows a light reflex.

Emma Thaisa Hoyos Saldana’s parents took her to the famous tourist site of the Great Wall in Beijing China during the sunny spring, allowing her to fully experience the beauty of nature with her newfound clear vision. The whole family has never been so happy!

We will continue to monitor Emma Thaisa Hoyos Saldana’s progress, as neural stem cells are expected to further improve her condition. We hope that more patients with similar conditions can regain their normal lives, studies, and work with the help of advanced stem cell treatments at Wu Medical Center, allowing them to enjoy the beautiful moments of life in this world!
