After a 2-week hospitalization at WMC: I have lived with ALS for 5 years and lost all self-care ability — Now I regain hand function, stand alone and take initial steps

Ms. Eva Slavská, an elegant 68-year-old lady from Slovakia, unfortunately suffers from Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). 5 years ago, she developed limb weakness and muscle atrophy after contracting COVID-19. Examinations at local hospitals confirmed an ALS diagnosis, yet she did not receive any pharmaceutical treatment. As her condition progressed relentlessly, muscle strength in all four limbs declined. She could barely perform fine motor tasks with her hands; her physical stamina and endurance deteriorated drastically, leaving her unable to stand independently or walk unassisted.

At the age of 68, Ms. Eva Slavská should have been enjoying life, yet she was diagnosed with ALS, a disease labeled an “incurable disorder” in textbooks of conventional medicine. Over five years since symptom onset, the illness robbed her of all capacity for self-care. This harsh reality was utterly unacceptable to Ms. Eva Slavská and her entire family.

Stem cell therapy, a groundbreaking medical innovation outside conventional medicine that can halt ALS progression and relieve patients’ symptoms, has gained global popularity for nearly two decades. ALS patients who choose treatment with Dr. Wu’s team learn through firsthand experience that Dr. Wu’s original, exclusive dual stem cell + CAST therapy, paired with his more than 40 years of extensive clinical knowledge and experience in neurology, enables them to sustain halted disease progression and improved symptoms for longer periods, with greater stability and better overall outcomes post-discharge.

Since the beginning of his medical career, Dr. Wu has remained committed to his original mission: helping ALS patients stop disease progression, alleviate symptoms and extend their lifespan. Drawing on his profound understanding of ALS and his personal expertise, he has broken free from the limitations of conventional medicine to continuously explore clinical stem cell treatments and rehabilitation protocols for ALS. Through persistent efforts, he has not only continuously optimized the clinical efficacy of dual stem cell + CAST therapy for ALS but also allowed every ALS patient treated at Wu Medical Center to witness a miraculous truth: “We can live a much better life!”

After only 2 weeks of inpatient treatment, Ms. Eva Slavská’s motor function improved remarkably, with all indicators rising by more than 30%.

Before treatment: Muscle strength of both upper limbs was Grade 3.
After treatment: Muscle strength of both arms reached Grade 4. She can steadily lift her arms above her head, and the speed of abduction during lifting has increased significantly.

Before treatment: Grip strength and wrist muscle strength of both hands were Grade 2+.
After treatment: Grip strength and wrist muscle strength of both hands improved to Grade 3+. She can grasp other people’s fingers and withstand moderate external resistance.

Before treatment: Finger dexterity of both hands was poor. Her finger-to-nose test movements were slow and clumsy; her finger opposition test was awkward with sluggish movement, and she could not complete opposition with the little fingers of both hands.
After treatment: Fine motor ability of her fingers improved; her performance on the finger opposition test was markedly better than before.

Before treatment: Wrist mobility of both hands was limited, and her rapid alternating hand movements were clumsy.
After treatment: Fine motor control of the wrists improved, and her alternating hand movements became faster.

Before treatment: Weakness in the lumbar and back muscles made movements from sitting up in bed to standing slow and laborious.
After treatment: Strength of the lumbar and abdominal muscles increased. Transitioning from a seated position in bed to standing is faster and more agile than upon admission.

Before treatment: Proximal muscle strength of the left lower limb was Grade 3-, distal muscle strength Grade 2-, and left foot muscle strength Grade 0; proximal and distal muscle strength of the right lower limb was Grade 3. She struggled to stand on both legs, could not stand on one leg, walked unsteadily, and was nearly unable to walk independently.
After treatment: Muscle strength of the left lower limb improved to Grade 3+, and the right lower limb to Grade 4+. She can maintain an upright stance longer, walking with improved speed and agility, and hold single-leg standing for approximately 3 seconds.

Before treatment: Respiratory rate was 20 breaths per minute, heart rate 88 beats per minute.
After treatment: Cardiopulmonary function enhanced; her resting heart rate mostly stabilizes at 75 beats per minute.

Before treatment: Physical stamina and endurance were severely reduced.
After treatment: Energy, physical strength and exercise endurance all improved.

Her ALS disease progression has been halted, and full-body motor function has returned. A delighted Ms. Eva Slavská took photos with Dr. Wu, Dr. Wang and the medical team to mark this milestone.

We hope to accompany more ALS patients like Ms. Eva Slavská to receive the sophisticated dual stem cell combined with CAST therapy at WMC — a treatment distinct from conventional medicine. It can stop disease progression, restore motor function, elevate quality of life, and empower patients to face their future life with confidence.
